Meeska, Mooska, Mickey Mouse! If you are a mom, you know exactly what those words mean. You have likely heard them once in your home already today.
Mickey Mouse is 94 years old.
He looks fantastic, doesn’t he? We first met our beloved pal and icon on November 18, 1928, in a short film, “Steamboat Willie.” If you are not sure what that is? It is usually the short clip featured before a Walt Disney Animation Studios movie. Walt Disney and animator Ub Iwerks created Mickey.
There are over a thousand “Hidden Mickeys” in Walt Disney World
One of our favorite ways to pass the time waiting in lines at Walt Disney World is to look for hidden Mickeys. You can find them throughout the parks. Hidden Mickeys are Mickey Mouse-shaped icons that can be large enough to be in plain sight or very small and hidden within a mural on a wall. You can even buy a guidebook to help you find every one of them. Most of the time, hidden Mickeys were created as permanent fixtures by Walt Disney Imagineering; however, sometimes, cast members like to have a little fun and create their own.
Mickey’s best pal is his dog, Pluto.
Mickey finally has an attraction all his own
On March 4, 2020, Walt Disney World opened the first attraction featuring our favorite mouse, Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway. This attraction is so much fun for the whole family. Without giving too much away, let’s say our pal Goofy gets us into a bit of trouble, and Mickey must save the day.
Mickey can be found at sea
Helmsman Mickey is the statue icon featured on the Disney Cruise Line ship, The Disney Magic. You can find the statue at the base of the staircase outside the entrance to Lumiere’s restaurant.
Mickey Mouse has appeared in over 130 movies.
Topolino means “mouse” in Italian
One of the most popular restaurants at the Walt Disney World Resort, Topolino’s Terrace pays tribute to the mascot. Located at Disney’s Riviera Resort, the restaurant is French and Italian themed.
Mickey is also referred to as “Miki Kuchi” in Japan and “Micheal Mus” in Greece.
Along with Tinker Bell, Bugs Bunny, The Simpsons, and Winnie the Pooh, Mickey Mouse has his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Mickey is delicious!
Visitors can find Mickey Mouse-shaped foods all over Disney theme parks, from pretzels, waffles, ice cream, and other treats.
The best way you can celebrate your favorite mouse is by planning a trip to see him in person at Walt Disney World or Disneyland. Mickey can be found throughout the parks for pictures and of course hugs.
