Mmmm ahhhhh! Pumpkin spice and everything nice is in the air.

Ok ok, maybe we aren’t all fans of that Pumpkin Spice life but one thing we can all agree on is that Fall is upon us and we are ready to decorate with all things orange, caramel, and burnt umber! Bring on the fire pits and smores. The hot toddies and mulled wine. We couldn’t be more excited to soak up this season!

Now we transition from indoor and AC (Praise be!) to porch hangs and hot tea. There is something so lovely about closing out a season and welcoming another. It is a necessary reset and a chance to refresh some tired decor from the sweltering summer. It’s porch weather yall, so let’s make it a cozy space to connect and reflect.

Where else would we start but with the Mums?! IYKYK.

Fall cannot commence until there are multiple mums placed on varying steps at varying heights. Maybe that sounds extreme, but here in the South, it’s a staple for fall. There is something really lovely about sticking to a yellow, orange, and white color palette with your mums. The monochromatic look is really soothing and pleasing to the eye. But don’t be afraid to go with that vibrant purple or that deep burgundy. A pop of color could be just what you need as green turns to brown and the chill starts sweeping through.

And don’t forget your pumpkins!

Your local farmers market or pumpkin patch will have a plethora of shapes and sizes. Don’t be afraid to scoop up that gnarly one with lumps and bumps. A picture perfect pumpkin is not only hard to say, but it lacks character. If you have to have that perfectly plump and shiny pumpkin, throw some funky gourds around it to give it a little more street cred!

If faux is your way to go, these darling pumpkin stacks can be yours without the diy or the hassle!

Also, who doesn’t love a little yard art?! Especially in a buffalo check – hello darling!

Speaking of buffalo check!

Changing out your porch throw pillows is an easy and quick way to boost your Fall porch vibes.

And don’t forget to toss a throw over your chair or porch swing. As that winter chill comes knocking, it’s not only a necessity but creates a welcoming feel for your guests to cozy up and stay awhile.

Don’t forget to dress your door!

Wreaths are welcoming any time of year and a great way to incorporate more cozy Fall feels. A homemade wreath can also be a really fun way to incorporate the kids. All you need is a good scavenger hunt for leaves and pinecones, a hot glue gun, and some willing little hands!

Mood lighting is arguably the most important element of a beautiful fall porch space – this goes for any space anywhere!

Front porch lighting can sometimes be too bright and harsh. To create that warm, soft glow that makes us all look beautiful, bringing in some lower lighting is really helpful. Think about tucking warm lights around the porch – in between the pumpkins or on a side table. A well-lit porch is a welcoming one indeed. Battery powered lighting is even better so your pumpkins don’t turn into jack o’lanterns too soon 🙂
