Cruise protocol updates – September 2022

As the world continues to recover from the pandemic the cruise industry has been hit with some of the strictest restrictions based on CDC guidance.

Now we can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel with many of the restrictions being released in the month of September 2022. Here is what you need to know about health protocols for our favorite major cruise lines if you want to cruise with your family September 2022 and beyond.

Carnival Cruise Protocols

On Carnival Cruise Line, “Have Fun. Be Safe” is their motto. As of 8/24/22 vaccinated passengers 5 years and older must present proof of full vaccination prior to sailing. Vaccinated guests are not required to pre cruise test except on 16 night sailings or when required by the destination.

Unvaccinated travelers 5 and older are welcome and must provide negative results of PCR or antigen test taken 3 days prior to embarkation. Self testing is accepting for cruises 15 nights or shorter.

Disney Cruise Protocols

For sailings departing from the U.S., Canada, and Puerto Rico guests 12 and older are required to be fully vaccinated at the time of sailing.

Testing Requirements

For sailings on the Dream. Wonder, Fantasy, and Wish departing after September 23, 2022 and November 7, 2023 on the Magic fully vaccinated passengers are not required to test.

Unvaccinated guests 11 and younger are required to show proof of a negative PCR or NAAT test 3 days prior to embarkation or an antigen test taken in the presence of a healthcare professional an upload it the the Safe Passage website.

Norwegian Cruise Protocols

“All Cruisers Welcome” is their current claim. Starting September 3, 2022 guests of all vaccinate status are welcome to sail. Unvaccinated guests 12 and older are required to show proof of a negative medically supervised PCR test or antigen test 72 hours before embarkation.

Royal Carribean Protocols

Vaccinated guest won’t have to test prior to sailing on itineraries shorter than 10 nights.
Unvaccinated guests 5 and older are welcome and will need to show proof of test taken 72 hours before embarkation. See website for more home testing options.

For all cruise lines and destinations see that any specific requirements are met as they can change at any moment. With all of these exciting changes cruising is back and more popular than ever. There are so many great promotions happening it’s a great time to take advantage of a good deal.
