Family Fun

We all know about the fun at the four theme parks that make up the Walt Disney World Resort but, did you know there is so much to do outside of the parks? I want to share with you some of my favorite actives and hope that you take advantage of them on your next visit to Orlando.

Miniature Golf

Without a doubt miniature golf is my favorite activity at Walt Disney World. For some reason, I find the chaos of playing mini golf with my family to be charming and memorable. WDW has two miniature golf locations: Winter Summerland and Fantasia Gardens.

Winter Summerland is  right next to Blizzard Beach so it’s a fun stop to make if you aren’t quite ready to head home after a day at the water park.

Fantasia Gardens which is in the Disney Boardwalk area is also well themed with two courses.

If you are looking for a challenge definitely play the Fairways course this course it much longer with lots of bunkers and sand traps to keep you on your toes. Both courses are open until later in the evening and don’t require reservations so you can make a spur of the moment decision to visit if you feel like it.

Shopping

Disney World has really stepped up their merchandise game over the years. You can find plenty of merchandise all over the parks but, Disney Springs has really become the best shopping hot spot.

I can make a quick stop into one of my favorite stores like Lilly Pulitzer or Zara for something fun and trendy, or to find a more unique version of one of my favorite character tees UNIQLO is my go-to. No visit to Disney Springs is complete without visiting and maybe getting a little lost in The World of Disney.

I am also a fan of Disney artwork and The Art of Disney is an incredible showcase of talent, it’s so hard for me to leave that shop without something.

Dining

I can and I will take a deep dive into Disney Dining eventually.

For now, I will just say that dining is not to be missed or looked over. There are so many incredible restaurants, snacks, and beverages all around the Walt Disney World Resort. Food, is part of the Disney experience. Eating around the world at EPCOT can be an event all its own.

Boating/fishing

With multiple locations to choose from guests can either embark on 2 or 4 hour boating excursions all year long. If you would rather just boat around, you can do that as well from multiple locations around the resort. Kayak and Canoe rentals are also available if you are a little more adventurous and looking for some physical activity. Perhaps you are interested in reserving a magical moment for your family consider a fireworks cruise. Currently, leaving from multiple docks around the Seven Seas Lagoon of Magic Kingdom are Fireworks Cruises for an extra special viewing area of the nightly Enchantment fireworks show.

Pool time!

This may seem like an obvious suggestion but, honestly I always remind friends and clients to make time for at least one pool day on your WDW vacation. Some pools are almost like a water park like Stormalong Bay at Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club. While other resorts have multiple pools like Coronado Springs or Art of Animation.

A parting challenge…

I leave you with my “no park challenge” to find a weekend when you need an excuse to be away from the house and spend it checking all of these activities off the list.

I bet you will leave feeling still feeling that Disney magic without that “Disney hangover”.
