I recently had the opportunity to take a voyage on the Inaugural sailing on the stunningly gorgeous Norwegian Prima. She is the newest ship in the Norwegian Cruise Line Prima Class. The Prima is the first in her class of 6 ships that will debut over the next few years. The Prima is the result of attention to detail, considering guest feedback, and the desire to create a truly unique ship.
One of the many unique features is the increased amount of balcony rooms.
They know guests want balcony rooms, so the Prima has over 900. The entire ship feels sleek, modern, and luxurious. I would say the main emphasis of the ship is still food and entertainment. There were a few small shops with jewelry and designer bags, but that was it. So, pack well because there were no boutiques to pick up a pair of sandals or bathing suit if you forgot yours at home.
So let’s dive into the food.
It was truly excellent. My only regret is that our sailing wasn’t long enough to be able to eat more. Our specialty dining choice was Odna by Scarpetta an elevated Italian restaurant. Gorgeously decorated and with excellent service. I would recommend this restaurant to any guest, and I would happily go back. One of our favorite spots for lunch and dinner was Indulge Food Hall. It featured a menu with a wide variety of cuisines from appetizers, salads, BBQ, Asian, Indian, and so many yummy desserts we found ourselves feasting at Indulge. When you sit down, you are given a tablet for the table to order your food from. The food comes out in waves as you order. Sometimes this got a little hectic with many plates on the table, but it was also fun! We enjoyed sharing plates with each other and ordering more of the dishes we enjoyed.
The Local won with me for their delicious drinks and fantastic burgers and sandwiches. Hudson’s and The Commodore were also included in the complimentary dining. They were so gorgeously decorated you could have fooled me that there was no additional charge to dine there.
Let’s talk about some of the fun!
One of the most unique activities is The Prima Speedway, a go-kart track at sea. The track on the Prima is the longest at sea, extending 3 decks on the ship. Yours truly won first place in the race in my group. Needless to say, I loved this activity and would recommend it to families. Note there is a height requirement for this attraction of 48”. After the track, we headed to the Galaxy Pavilion, where you can experience a TopGolf simulator, race the whole family or ride a roller coaster in the various virtual reality experiences. There are two dry slides on the ship as well as one water slide. The Aqua Park and Splash academy are great places for the little ones to hang out.
In the evening, adults must visit the Prima Theater and nightclub. A three-story multipurpose event venue. Our experience included an off-the-rails game of “The Price is Right .”When I tell you I thought Drew Carry would walk on stage at any minute, they did an incredible job of making this game so realistic and precisely like the real thing. Once the primary entertainment is over, stay to watch the theater transform into a nightclub and finish the night off by dancing the night away.
I really could go on and on about The Prima. NCL really took excellent care of their passengers. The food was amazing, the spaces were all beautiful and luxurious, and we had so much fun. I cannot wait for the opportunity to sail on the Prima again soon.
